Stand in the name of Ravi Shastri, gate in Wankhede in the name of Diana Edulji and Sardesai, CM Fadnavis unveiled
Ravi Shastri at Wankhede: Thursday was a historic day for Maharashtra cricket. The Level 1 stand below the press box at Wankhede Stadium has been named after former cricketer Ravi Shastri, which was unveiled by CM Devendra Fadnavis. Apart from this, one gate each in the name of well-known cricketers Dilip Sardesai, Eknath Solkar and Diana Edulji was also unveiled.
On this occasion, CM Devendra Fadnavis said that I feel proud to name the stands and gates after these cricket personalities. He also described the contribution made by Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Diana Edulji to cricket as unprecedented. I remember Sunil Gavaskar’s brilliant innings against West Indies, in which he performed brilliantly without a helmet.
Also praising Vengsarkar’s contribution, Fadnavis said that he has made a huge contribution to Mumbai cricket. He is teaching the tricks of cricket to young players through his coaching academy. Cricket grounds in Mumbai will also be improved. Because there are many pitches on the same ground. Because of this it becomes difficult for the players. Mumbai Cricket Association President Ajinkya Naik and others were present.

On this occasion, Ravi Shastri said that it is a proud moment for me to have a stand in my name at Wankhede Stadium. He said that after this, whenever I come here to do commentary, I will proudly tell that there is a stand in my name here too.

Women’s cricket has finally got recognition: Diana
Diana Edulji said that when we started playing cricket, women did not get that much priority, but we worked hard and today women’s cricket has also got recognition. Edulji was the first captain of the Indian women’s cricket team.

Wankhede should be used only for sports: Rajdeep
Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, son of cricketer Dilip Sardesai, appealed to the CM and said that Wankhede Stadium and other grounds should be used only for sports. No wedding ceremony or other program should be allowed in this stadium.
