Want to bring home the scent of heaven? So plant Harsingar Parijat in a pot like this, the plant will be laden with flowers.
News India Live, Digital Desk: Are you also one of those people who pass by a park in the evening and a pleasant smell stops you? Yes, that fragrance is of Harsingar only. It is also called Parijat. It is said that it came out of the churning of the ocean and it is considered very auspicious to plant it in the house. Often people think that Parijat is a big tree, how will it fit in a pot? But believe the truth, with a little care you can easily grow it in a pot on your balcony or terrace and get lots of flowers. Let us understand in a very desi and easy way how to plant it in a pot and how to take care of it. 1. Starting Right: Seed or Plant? If you’re a new gardener, don’t get caught up in the seed dilemma. It takes a lot of time to grow from seed. The best way is to go to the nursery and get a small and healthy Harsingar sapling. You can easily get this for Rs 50-100. Propagation is also possible from cuttings (pen), but in other seasons except monsoon, it is a bit difficult to propagate cuttings.2. How should the pot be? Since the nature of Harsingar is to become a tree, do not plant it in a small plastic mug or small pot. Choose an earthen pot of at least 16 to 20 inches. Clay pots allow plants to breathe. Make sure to check the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot so that water does not stagnate.3. Magic Mix of Soil: This plant likes soil in which water does not stagnate, only moisture remains. For this, prepare this mixture: 50% normal garden soil, 30% cow dung manure or vermicompost (compost should be good because the flower needs strength) 20% sand or coco peat (so that the soil remains friable). Mix all these well and fill them in the pot and plant the plant. 4. Sunlight: Do not keep it hidden in a corner in the shade. Parijat loves sunlight. Keep it in a place where it gets direct sunlight for at least 5 to 6 hours a day. The better the sunlight, the more flowers will bloom in winter.5. How much water to give? It doesn’t like ‘mud’. Water only when the top soil feels dry to the touch. Due to excessive watering, its roots rot and the leaves turn yellow and start falling. A Pro Tip (Secret Tip): When the plant starts growing a little, pinch the upper branch with your finger. New branches will emerge from this. The more branches, the more flowers! And yes, keep adding a handful of mustard cake or cow dung manure every month, the plant will remain happy.
