Wanted smuggler Sunil Yadav shot dead in America; Lawrence Bishnoi's associate took responsibility
Notorious drug smuggler Sunil Yadav, who had deep links to criminal activities in India, was shot dead in a shootout in Stockton, California. Yadav, who was wanted in several criminal cases in Rajasthan, had become notorious for his involvement in drug smuggling into India, mainly through Pakistan.
His name was earlier linked to a major drug seizure worth ₹300 crore. Reports suggest that Yadav was absconding for several years, evading authorities after fleeing India. It is believed that he fled the country using a fake passport in the name of “Rahul” and moved to the US about two years ago. Before running away,
Yadav was involved in several high-profile criminal cases, including the murder of a jeweler named Pankaj Soni in Rajasthan's Ganganagar district. Despite being arrested in connection with this murder, Yadav was granted bail and managed to escape justice by fleeing abroad.
incident details
Sunil Yadav died in a shooting in Stockton, California. Authorities in California and India are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding his death to determine how he died after evading capture for several years.
The murder occurred several years after Yadav fled India, and questions are being raised about the motive behind the attack.
Gangster Rohit Godara took responsibility
Rohit Godara, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has openly taken responsibility for Yadav's murder. Godara revealed in a statement that the murder was a form of retaliation to avenge the death of his colleague Ankit Bhadu.
According to Godara, Yadav had earlier conspired with the Punjab Police to kill Bhadu in an encounter, which had led to a rift between them. The claim also suggests that Yadav was involved in betraying his former associates by giving information to the authorities while living in the US.
Yadav was originally a resident of Abohar located in Fazilka district of Punjab. He was once considered close to his associates including Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara. However, their relationship deteriorated after Ankit Bhadu's death.
The gang's hostility towards Yadav increased when it was believed that Yadav had played a role in Bhadu's murder, leading to a deadly retaliation.
Yadav's involvement in criminal activities
Before fleeing to the US, Sunil Yadav had established himself as a key figure in the drug trafficking network between India and Pakistan. His involvement in drug trafficking brought him to the attention of law enforcement agencies in both countries.
However, despite several attempts at arrest, he managed to evade capture for years, moving between Dubai, India, and eventually the United States.
