New Delhi: The violence that has continued since Sunday morning in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district has claimed four lives and left more than 20 injured. This violence started when a survey team had come to inspect the Mughal era Jama Masjid on the orders of the court. During this time, stones were pelted at the survey team, after which the situation took a serious turn. Following the violence, internet service has been suspended in Sambhal and surrounding areas due to security reasons.

The dispute over the mosque is part of a long legal battle, with claims that the mosque was built on the site of a Hindu temple. This incident is not limited to Sambhal only, but controversies have arisen regarding mosques in other parts of the country as well. In today's time, disputes regarding some major religious places are going on in the court.

There was a legal battle going on for many decades regarding Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the decision of which came in the form of construction of Ram temple. Even after the construction of Ram Temple at the Babri Masjid site, the situation of controversies still persists.

Similarly, a controversy was raised in the case of Gyanvapi Mosque located in Varanasi, in which it was claimed that this site was earlier a Hindu temple. In this case, the mosque was also surveyed on the orders of the court and this dispute is still going on in the court.

There is also controversy regarding the Shahi Jama Masjid and Idgah situated in Mathura. Here also it is being claimed that this place is the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna.
