New Delhi :After the spectacular victory of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the recent parliamentary elections in Bangladesh, the political scenario there has completely changed. On Tuesday, BNP leader Tariq Rehman took official oath as the new Prime Minister of the country. On this special occasion, India extended the hand of its diplomatic warmth and friendship and sent Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Dhaka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Tariq Rehman to visit India with his family through a special letter.
Special invitation from PM Modi
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi, in his letter sent through Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, has invited Tariq Rehman to visit India along with his wife Dr. Zubaida Rehman and daughter Zaima. After taking oath in Dhaka on 17 February, Om Birla personally met him and handed over this letter to PM Modi. In the letter, Modi made it clear that he would be warmly welcomed in India and this visit would be based on the mutual consent of both the countries.
Achieved one-sided majority by winning 209 seats
Praising the landslide victory of BNP, PM Modi said that this magnificent mandate is the biggest proof of the unwavering trust of the public on the efficient leadership of Tariq Rehman. He described the election results as a victory for the vision of peace, stability and prosperity in the country. BNP has achieved a one-sided majority by winning 209 out of 297 seats. Modi expressed confidence that Rahman’s leadership will now be completely successful in taking Bangladesh to new heights of development.

In his letter, Prime Minister Modi made special mention of the centuries-old deep cultural and historical relations between India and Bangladesh. He said that as two close neighbours, our unbreakable friendship is firmly based on the shared heritage and hopes of peace of our people. According to Modi, the development priorities of both the countries will complement each other. This special synergy will play the role of a guiding principle for future cooperation in the times to come.
Proposal to work together in important areas
Prime Minister Modi has expressed his desire to take bilateral relations to a completely new and unprecedented height. He has proposed to work together in important areas like connectivity, trade, technology and energy. Along with this, special emphasis has been laid on pursuing common goals in areas like education, health care, skill development and cultural interaction. Modi made it clear that this increasing cooperation between India and Bangladesh will make both the countries strong and self-reliant.
