Was Kabaddi player Balachauria involved in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala? Bambiha gang shot dead just 10 days after marriage
Punjab A major accident occurred in Mohali on 15 December 2025. A famous Kabaddi player and tournament promoter Rana Balachauria (real name Kanwar Digvijay Singh) was shot dead during the ongoing Kabaddi tournament in Sohana area. Rana was only 30 years old and was recently married on 4 December. This incident happened around 6 pm, when the tournament was going on and hundreds of spectators were present on the field.
The attackers had come on a motorcycle. They stopped Rana on the pretext of taking a selfie and after coming close, fired four-five bullets at him from close range. The bullets hit his head, face and upper body. Rana was badly injured and collapsed on the spot. He was immediately taken to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, but doctors declared him dead. The hospital said that he was brought at 6:05 pm and the bullet wounds were very serious.

Revenge for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala
Davinder Bambiha gang has taken the responsibility of this murder. In a post on social media, the gang claimed that it was revenge for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. He says that Rana was earlier associated with Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gangs and had given shelter to those who murdered Moosewala. The names of the attackers have also been mentioned in the post – Makhan Amritsar and Defaulter Karne. The police is investigating this post and confirming its authenticity.
Came on the pretext of selfie and opened fire
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said that the attackers had made the excuse of getting the players photographed. Police are investigating all aspects including the possibility of gang war. CCTV footage is being scrutinized, social media is being monitored and security has been increased. No one has been arrested yet, but the police is claiming to take immediate action. This incident happened when the performance of famous Punjabi singer Mankirat Aulakh was scheduled to take place in the tournament. The firing took place about half an hour before he arrived, so he was not at the spot. There was chaos on the ground, people started running here and there.
law and order failed
This murder has created a political uproar in Punjab. Opposition parties are accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of law and order failure. Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said that playgrounds have now become firing grounds and criminals have got a free hand. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring called it a complete failure of governance. Former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa demanded immediate action. BJP leaders Parminder Brar and Ashwani Sharma also raised questions on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s dream of ‘Rangla Punjab’ and said that the state has become unsafe for the youth. Attacks on Kabaddi players are not a new thing in Punjab. Many Kabaddi players have been murdered this year, which are said to be related to gang war. Police say that all secrets will be revealed once the investigation is completed. At present, there is tension in the entire area and people are scared.
