The incident took place during a marriage ceremony in Greater Kailash area of ​​Jammu.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal (63), resident of Purani Mandi, Jammu. He managed to enter the function and came very close to Farooq Abdullah. He took out his pistol and fired, but Abdullah’s close protection team reacted quickly and diverted the bullet, thereby averting a major accident.

Jammu Police has registered a case under various sections in this serious matter. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused at Gangyal police station under section 109 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). Apart from this, a case has also been registered under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act for possessing and using illegal weapons.
