For the last three days, long queues of people carrying vehicles and cans are being seen at all the petrol pumps in the district. People are buying petrol-diesel in large quantities and storing it in cans, drums and other containers. Meanwhile, on Sunday, an argument started among the customers regarding the number in the queue at Chhabra Petrol Pump located at Akola Naka in Washim. Within no time this argument turned into a violent clash. A video of which is becoming increasingly viral on social media.

According to the information received, on Sunday there was a sudden rush of vehicles to fill petrol and diesel at Chhabra Petrol Pump located at Akola Naka in Washim. Meanwhile, some customers started filling fuel in cans, drums and other containers. During this, there was an argument among some people and within no time the petrol pump became an arena. There was a fierce fight between the people with the compartment. Customers attacked each other with diesel cans, resulting in minor injuries to several people. A video of this is going viral on social media.

What did the petrol pump operator say?

According to pump operator Jitendra Chopra Chhawda, about 400-500 people arrived to get petrol and diesel and a long line was formed. During this time, there was a dispute among the people regarding the number, which soon turned into a fight. People started attacking each other with boxes and sticks. When the situation worsened, Washim police reached the spot and calmed the situation.

Due to such incidents, there is an atmosphere of panic among the pump operators and serious questions are being raised regarding safety. The sudden increase in crowd at petrol pumps has also affected the city’s transport system. Traffic was disrupted at many places due to long queues of vehicles. Boards stating petrol or diesel are not available have been put up at some pumps.

Fuel consumption is high in Washim district

There are more than 100 petrol pumps in six tehsils of Washim district. On normal days, 4 to 5 lakh liters of fuel is sold here every day, but in recent times, due to fear of shortage, citizens have started purchasing fuel in large quantities, due to which the sales have doubled.

Danger of accidents due to sale of petrol and diesel in cans and drums

Being inflammable substances, the risk of accidents has increased due to the sale of petrol and diesel in large quantities in cans and drums. Experts say that if the administration does not intervene immediately, serious accidents may occur.

People made this demand from the administration

Citizens have demanded immediate intervention from the administration. Given the atmosphere of rumor and fear, people want that fuel supply should be normalized and security arrangements at the pumps should be increased. In this way, the shortage of petrol and diesel in Washim district has troubled the citizens. Long queues, disputes and incidents of scuffles at the pumps show the seriousness of the situation. The administration will have to take immediate steps to ensure supplies and security so that the rumors and fear spread among the citizens can be dispelled.
