New Delhi: In the 30th match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024, Brisbane Heat defeated Melbourne Stars by 6 wickets to register another important win. With this win, the Jess Jonason-led team has reached the third position in the table with 10 points from eight matches. To win this match, the Heat had a target of 139 runs, which they achieved by losing 4 wickets in 17.4 overs. Lucy Hamilton was awarded the Player of the Match award for her brilliant five wickets.
Although the star-studded Melbourne Stars team had to face defeat in this match, their all-rounder and captain Annabel Sutherland performed brilliantly with bat and ball. During this, Sutherland dismissed Jemimah Rodrigues with a ball that could have fooled any player. The video of this brilliant slower ball of hers is becoming quite viral.
Rodrigues scored a brilliant 45 (31) before getting out and missed her half-century by just five runs. Her innings included five fours and two sixes. Talking about Rodrigues, she has not been able to perform up to her potential in this season of the Women’s Big Bash League so far. She has scored only one half-century so far this season. She started her WBBL 2024 campaign with an innings of 45 runs and has so far scored 177 runs in six matches at an average of 29.50. Apart from this, she is hitting the ball at a strike rate of 139.37.
