During the 23rd match of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons wicketkeeper Azam Khan pulled off a lightning-fast stumping to dismiss Antigua and Barbuda Falcons’ batter Justin Greaves.

The dismissal took place when Warriors’ spinner, Gudakesh Motionbowled a clever delivery that spun sharply away from Greaves. Sensing Greaves advancing down the track, Motie pushed the ball wide outside off-stump, causing it to spin beyond the batter’s reach. Greaves, already well out of his crease, was left stranded as Azam smoothly collected the ball and swiftly dislodged the bails. Greaves departed after scoring just 5 runs off 6 balls.

A 27-run win for Guyana Amazon Warriors

Batting first, Guyana Amazon Warriors posted a total of 135/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The team’s innings was anchored by Moeen Aliwho played a crucial knock of 42 runs from 33 deliveries, providing much-needed stability. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Warriors managed to set a target of 136 for Falcons.

In response, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons struggled to get going, faltering to 108 all out in 18.5 overs. The Warriors’ bowlers, led by Dwayne Pretorius and Ali, put on a dominant display. Both Pretorius and Ali claimed 3 wickets each, making it difficult for the Falcons’ batting line-up to gain any momentum.

Thanks to their disciplined bowling and tight fielding, Guyana Amazon Warriors secured a comfortable 27-run victory. Moeen Ali, for his all-round contribution was rightfully named the Player of the Match.

The match was a testament to Guyana’s resilience and dominance in the league, as they continue to build their case for the title with each passing game.
