Watch Barack Obama rapping ‘Lose Yourself’ as Eminem campaigns for Kamala Harris- The Week
Former US President Barack Obama was seen rapping Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ on Tuesday night as the duo campaigned for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz during a Detroit rally.
Eminem, 52, who is from Detroit, introduced Obama to the local supporters and said, “As most of you know, the city of Detroit and the whole state of Michigan mean a lot to me. And going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever.”
Reminding the audience about the importance of using their voice, the rapper said they should not be afraid to express their opinions.
Obama said he is a fan of Eminem, adding that “I have done a lot of rallies so I don’t usually get nervous but I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem.” Then he started rapping the lyrics of ‘Lose Yourself’.
“My palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. Vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti,” Obama rapped his rendition of the song as the crowd cheered. “I’m nervous but on the surface I look calm and ready, to drop bombs but I keep on forgetting … “
The single bagged Grammy for Best Rap Song and Best Male Rap Solo Performance in 2004. The former President ended his song, saying “I love me some Eminem.”
However, Eminem did not offer to pitch in with his rapping skills and was focused on the political campaign. He said Harris supports a future for America where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.
Eminem has been a staunch critic of Donald Trump and had endorsed Joe Biden in 2020. His 2017 sing ‘Framed’ took a dig at Trump with the lyrics saying, “That’s an awfully hot coffee pot. Should I drop it on Donald Trump? Probably not; But that’s all I got till I come up with a solid plot.”
