Sanju Samson was named Player of the Tournament in T20 World Cup 2026
Meanwhile, the star cricketer was named as the Player of the Tournament in T20 World Cup 2026 for aggregating 321 runs only in five matches, averaging a healthy 80.25. The keeper-batter especially stood up after being called up to the playing XI following the defeat to South Africa in Ahmedabad in the Super 8 clash. With the Men in Blue needing a right-hander at the top, Samson stepped up and played tournament-defining knocks against the West Indies, England and New Zealand.
He smashed a pair of 89 against the West Indies and England, helping the defending champions reach the final. The final in Ahmedabad saw him hammer 89 runs more to help India amass 255 in 20 overs. The hosts defended it with ease to romp to their third T20 World Cup title and second successive.
Samson’s best IPL season was in 2021 when he amassed 484 runs for the Rajasthan Royals but will be hungry for more runs, based on his current form.
