Two days after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a video teasing their IPL 2026 auction strategy, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has responded with a witty social media clip of its own. The back-and-forth comes as both teams prepare for the December 16 mini-auction in Abu Dhabi, where KKR enters with the highest purse of Rs 64.30 crorefollowed by CSK with Rs 43.40 crore.
The interaction began on December 10 when CSK shared a video of their mascot Leo shopping at a local market, hinting at the type of players the franchise might pursue. Fans decoded possible references to a New Zealand cricketer, a Jammu & Kashmir player, and a Tamil Nadu talent.
KKR replied on Friday with a humorous video featuring a man flaunting a stack of currency notes while shopping. In the clip, he even buys another man’s watch and phone—an apparent nod to KKR’s massive auction purse and their ability to outbid rivals.
