Watch: NTA revamps JEE Main 2025 tie-breaking rules; age, application no dropped
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently revised the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 tie-breaking rules. As per the updated guidelines by NTA, candidates’ age criteria and application number will not be taken into consideration to resolve ties in the JEE score and will solely depend on candidates’ performance in the exam. If, the tie among candidates persists the same rank will be awarded.
NTA JEE Main 2025: Revised tie-breaking criteria
If candidates get identical total scores, then to break the tie the below-mentioned criteria will be applied-
- Candidates with a higher NTA Mathematics score will get the first rank.
- If the tie is there, a higher score in Physics will be considered to determine the rank.
- If the tie persists, candidates with a higher NTA score in Chemistry will be on priority.
- Then a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers in all subjects will be considered for the decision.
- If required a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers, mainly in Mathematics will be accepted.
- Still, a tie, a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers in Physics will be the determining factor.
- Next, if it is still the same, a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers in Chemistry will help to decide.
- After all the criteria are considered and still there is a tie, candidates will get the same rank.
