The act has sparked plenty of buzz among the fans on social media and the IPL governing council could well take an action against the spin-bowling all-rounder. It does spark a discussion about the laws of vaping in India.

According to the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019, the country has banned the production, advertisement, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution and storage of all the products that relates to vaping. As per reports, first-time offenders can face up to an year in jail or a fine of one lakh, with stricter penalties for subsequent actions of such kind. Another report has claimed that repeated offenders can also face up to three years of imprisonment or ₹5 lakh fine or both.

The Royals had come into the scanner earlier in the tournament as well after the team’s manager Romi Bhinder was caught using phone in the dugout while the IPL 2026 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was going on. Bhinder copped a fine of ₹1 lakh but escaped a severe ban.

As for the state of the match, the Royals broke Punjab Kings’ winning streak, stretching up to the start of the 19th edition of the tournament. Half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh and Marcus Stoinis set the Royals a stiff 223 to win. Rajasthan Royals’ openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal also had a rollicking start of their own, stitching a 51-run stand in less than four overs.
While Dhruv Jurel struggled, Parag (29), Ferreria (52*) and Shubham Dubey (31*) did just enough to consign the Punjab Kings to their first defeat of the season and in Mullanpur this year. Ferreria earned the Player of the Match award for his 26-ball knock.
