New Delhi: Delhi’s captain Himmat Singh had to pay the price for not being able to read the situation properly. Due to this Tamil Nadu scored 379 runs by losing 1 wicket till stumps on the first day of the Group D Ranji Trophy match, thanks to Sai Sudarshan’s unbeaten double century.

Sudarshan is standing firm at the crease after scoring 202 runs. He has so far made century partnerships of 168 runs for the first wicket with N Jagadeesan (65 runs in 101 balls) and 211 runs for the second wicket with Washington Sundar (96 runs not out).

Delhi captain Himmat could not make the right decision due to the presence of a lot of grass on the pitch. However, this pitch turned out to be completely flat. Due to this, Tamil Nadu batsmen thrashed Delhi bowlers a lot. Navdeep Saini (one wicket for 65 runs in 17 overs) and Himansh Chauhan (no wicket for 50 runs in 17 overs) made an impact in the initial spell.

But Sudarshan and Jagdishan scored runs quickly on poor spin bowling. Spinner Sumit Mathur was not given a place in the playing eleven. Whereas in his debut match last season, he had taken nine wickets.

Continuous runs are being seen from Sai Sudarshan’s bat. Before this, Sai had scored a lot of runs in county cricket.
