Watch the new release horror-comedy Prakambanam on Zee5, a funny story of three friends made with a budget of Rs 5 crore.

Prakambanam on OTT: Malayalam film ‘Prakambanam’, full of supernatural entertainment, is now available at your home on OTT platform. This funny horror-comedy film has started streaming on Zee5 from March 13, 2026. Now you can watch it comfortably sitting at home and laugh a lot. This film has been directed by Vijayesh Panathur and the script has been written by Srihari Vadakkan. After its release in theatre, it won the hearts of people.

The budget of the film was only Rs 4 crore, but it did wonders at the box office. In 39 days, it collected about Rs 15.17 crore in India, which means it got a return of about 280 percent. This is a huge success, because it is not easy to do such a good business in a low budget. The story of the film revolves around three friends. All three of them live together in a college hostel in Ernakulam. The main characters are Siddhu (Ganapathy), Punyalan (Sagar Surya) and Shankaran (Al Ameen).

How does the twist come into the film?

Their life is full of mischief, jokes, college politics and friendship. Sidhu is very fond of winning the college elections, while the other two are also busy in their own fun. But the twist in the story comes when Sidhu has to take the ashes of his late grandmother to Kashi and immerse them. He doesn’t want to tell this to anyone, so he keeps the ashes in a small powder bottle. His friend Punyalan smells it, mistaking it for some intoxicant.

grandmother’s soul lying behind

After this, the soul of Siddhu’s grandmother (whose character is played by Mallika Sukumaran) comes into Punyalan’s body. Now this soul starts preaching to everyone, starts making rules of the house and even starts taking part in college elections. This creates a huge uproar in the hostel. There is definitely a fear of ghosts, but most of the time there is laughter and comedy. There are many other good actors in the film, like Sheetal Joseph, Rajesh Madhavan, Aziz Nedumangad, Alexander Prashanth, PP Kunhikrishnan and Abhijeet Suresh.

last film of kala bhavan nawas

The special thing is that this film is the last film of Kala Bhavan Navas, who unfortunately died soon after the shooting was completed. Director Lal Jose has also played a small role. Director Vijayesh Panathur told in an interview that the story of the film came from a funny joke of his wife. They are also thinking of making a sequel, but it may take some time.
