Watson-Marlow highlights hygienic pumping solutions for brewing industry

The company’s products are designed for use across food and beverage, cosmetics, industrial, chemical, and biopharmaceutical sectors. In brewing applications, WMFTS pumps are used to transfer yeast and beer, support additive dosing, and reduce energy and water consumption, while limiting waste through low-shear handling.

Amid rising costs for raw materials, logistics, storage, and energy, manufacturers are seeking more efficient and resource-conscious solutions. WMFTS states that its Certa Sine pumps can reduce power consumption by up to 50% when handling viscous fluids. The Certa Compact range is designed with a smaller footprint, reducing equipment size by around 30%.

Jose Longo, Head of Process Industries, APAC at WMFTS, said the company focuses on providing solutions tailored to food and beverage processes. “Our pumps are designed for hygienic fluid handling and aim to support product quality while meeting safety standards. Features such as accurate dosing, clean-in-place capability, and simplified maintenance can contribute to operational efficiency and cost management,” he said.

Vietnam’s brewing sector continues to expand. According to Astute Analytica, the market is projected to grow from $7.89 billion in 2024 to more than $14.85 billion by 2033, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.27%. The country remains one of Asia’s largest beer markets, with increasing demand for premium and craft products.

Faith Tang, APAC Regional Marketing for Process Industries at WMFTS, noted that the company’s Bredel CIP pump is designed for clean-in-place (CIP) processes. The system includes retractable shoes that reduce hose compression at high temperatures, supporting cleaning efficiency while lowering energy consumption and maintenance requirements.

WMFTS pumps, including the Bredel CIP 40 and CIP 50 models, are used in processes requiring frequent cleaning. The company states that these systems provide low-shear pumping and dosing accuracy of up to ±0.5%. Their closed fluid path design is intended to minimize contamination risk, while food-grade PTFE hoses meet current hygiene standards.

The company also works with customers on system design, pump selection, and operational support, particularly as production requirements change.

With more than 60 years of experience, over one million pumps installed globally, and operations in more than 60 markets, including 13 offices in the Asia-Pacific region, WMFTS is a manufacturer of peristaltic pumps and fluid handling technologies for life sciences and process industries.
