He had filed his nomination after a roadshow in Kalpetta city on October 22 along with his brother Rahul Gandhi, mother Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and state Congress leaders. This is his second visit to Wayanad after that.

Referring to her brother Rahul Gandhi leaving the seat, she said that she (Priyanka) knows how heavy his (Rahul's) heart was when he left Wayanad.

She said, “I know you have come here out of love for my brother. He has a deep relationship with all of you, you all are his family.

Priyanka said, “Today we are fighting a very big battle and he (Rahul) is leading that battle… and we are all fighting for the values ​​on which the country is built. We are fighting for the values ​​of our Constitution. Today we are fighting for our democracy. Today we are fighting for equality and each of you is an important soldier in this fight.

She also said that if she is elected MP, she will work hard.

Priyanka said, “I will stand with you.” I will fight for you. I will raise your issues in Parliament. I will fight to resolve your issues.'' A small road show took place after the meeting in Meenangadi. After this, Priyanka left for the next meeting at Panamaram in Mananthavady assembly constituency at 2.30 pm. This is his second visit to the area after filing nomination on October 22.

Meanwhile, the returning officer accepted the nomination of the Congress leader after completing the scrutiny of ballot papers on Monday. He had submitted four sets of nomination papers.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had accused Priyanka Gandhi of “not disclosing necessary information” about her and her husband Robert Vadra's assets in the affidavit submitted along with her nomination.

Congress leaders, including Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Ramesh Chennithala, gave him a warm welcome at the grounds of Nilgiri College of Arts and Science when he arrived by helicopter at 11.50 am.

He greeted party workers and students before leaving for Meenangadi by road for his first meeting.
