Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election today. During this time, his mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and many other leaders were present with him. Earlier, he had filled the nomination forms in the presence of local leaders. After filing nomination forms, he did a road-show with his brother Rahul Gandhi. Let us tell you that Priyanka Gandhi is going to face BJP candidate Navya Haridas in the Wayanad by-election.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka's mother Sonia Gandhi and husband Robert Vadra were also present in this road show. Priyanka Gandhi also addressed the people in the road show. She said, “For the last 35 years I have been campaigning for different elections. This is the first time I am seeking your support for myself. It's a very different feeling. I am very grateful to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge ji for giving me the privilege of becoming a candidate from Wayanad.”

He further said, “Truth and non-violence inspired my brother (Rahul Gandhi) to walk 8000 km across the country for unity and love. When the whole world was against them, you stood with them. You guys gave my brother the courage to fight. My entire family is indebted to you. I know that he (Rahul Gandhi) had to leave you and I promise you that I will strengthen the relationship between you and him. He told me what big problems you are facing. My brother told me what is your problem. I want to come to your house and understand directly from you what your problems are and how we can deal with them.”

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also addressed the road-show. “Wayanad is the only constituency in the country which has two MPs, one is an official MP and the other is an unofficial MP,” he said. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Wayanad landslide.

On Priyanka Gandhi's nomination, Congress MP JB Mather said, “The energy you see here is something we were all waiting for. We wanted Priyanka Gandhi to contest elections from any seat, but we never thought that luck would come to us. We are all excited. There is excitement everywhere. It is a double good fortune for Wayanad and Kerala, as it will now be written in golden letters – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Member of Lok Sabha, Wayanad, Kerala.”

BJP candidate Navya Haridas has already challenged Congress for a tough contest. He had said that Priyanka Gandhi will have to face tough competition in the upcoming by-elections. He said, “My rival is Priyanka Gandhi. I would only like to say that Congress will face a tough challenge in Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi had left Wayanad seat to retain Rae Bareli seat. When the people of Wayanad faced landslides, they had no representative in Parliament to raise these issues.”

Navya further said, “Rahul Gandhi has hardly visited this constituency in the last five years. They also failed to raise the issues of the people here. This will be my first Lok Sabha election.” He had also said that Wayanad was just another seat for the Gandhi family. Let us tell you that this will be the first election of Navya Haridas along with Priyanka Gandhi. LDF also fielded candidates in this by-election to be held on 13 November. He has made Satyan Mokeri his candidate.
