We are not asking for special status, give us our rights Prime Minister- Hemant Soren wrote a letter demanding 1.36 lakh crores, if you cannot pay then demand 1100 crores as interest every month

Ranchi: The issue of Jharkhand's mineral tax arrears with the central government is now gaining momentum. It is believed that JMM will raise this issue strongly in the elections. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding Jharkhand's outstanding amount which is about Rs 1 lakh 36 thousand crores. Not only this, Hemant said in his letter that the interest on this outstanding amount is Rs 1100 crores which should be paid every month.

Hemant Soren has written in a letter to the Prime Minister that “If you demand the rights of Jharkhandis, they put you in jail, but for our rights, any sacrifice is acceptable. We are not demanding special status like the BJP's allied states, nor are we demanding a bigger share of the central budget like some states – just give us our rights, this is our demand. Our demand is only for justice, not for privileges. The people of Jharkhand have fought a long struggle for their state, and now we want that our resources and rights are properly utilized. We will take Jharkhand on a new path of development with our dues of 1 lakh 36 thousand crores. ”

Hemant Soren has written in his letter to the PM that “We will use our outstanding amount of Rs. 1.36 lakh crore to take Jharkhand on a new path of development – a development that protects the interests of our environment, tribals and every Jharkhandi community. We will improve education and health services so that our children have a bright future. We will better protect our language and culture so that our identity remains intact and we will provide new dimensions of employment to our youth – and in the absence of that, we will give them a fair allowance.”

Not only this, Hemant Soren has also mentioned the interest on the outstanding amount in the letter written to the Prime Minister. Hemant wrote that

“We believe that if the law allows us to collect revenue, it should be given to the state. And if we include the interest amount, then on calculating simple interest of 4.5% on the same, Rs. 510 crore per month will be the interest amount payable to the state only. And if we go on parity with the state of Jharkhand in terms of interest charged in respect of DBC dues, the interest becomes Rs. 1100 crore per month.”

Hemant Soren has also given the account of the land acquired by coal companies in Jharkhand and demanded the outstanding amount. According to the letter written to the PM

The Jharkhand government has demanded about Rs 32,000 crore from various coal companies for violating Section 21(5) of the MMDR Act, 1957, but these dues have not been paid.

Apart from this, the most important issue is the amounts due under land acquisition. As you are aware, in the last few years coal companies have acquired more than 32,000 acres of GM land and more than 6600 acres of GM JJ land in the state. The compensation for acquisition of government land by the subsidiaries of Coal India has been calculated by joint teams of the respective District Deputy Commissioners' Offices. As per the report of these teams, the amounts due under land acquisition compensation are Rs. 38,460 crore for GM land and Rs. 2682 crore for GM JJ land, taking the total amount due in this regard to Rs. 41,142 crore.

Before the elections, Hemant Soren has raised this issue and put a lot of pressure on the central government. It is believed that the BJP is very worried about this issue because they have been in power for the last ten years.
