Referring to this, Jaishankar said that if any country continues to promote terrorism, then India has every right to protect its people. This is a normal thing.
The External Affairs Minister said that India will take whatever steps are necessary to protect itself against terrorism. He said that only India will take this decision and no one else will tell us what to do. He said that no one else can decide what India should do or not do.

‘If you spread terror, you will not get water’
Foreign Minister spoke on water treaty. He said that if there was an agreement for sharing water many years ago, it cannot be maintained. If someone indulges in terrorism then he cannot be treated like a good neighbour. The benefits of a good neighbor are achieved only when there is good behaviour. He said that if the neighbor is terrorizing us then we cannot give him water.
S Jaishankar, Foreign Minister:-
Many years ago, we had agreed on a water sharing arrangement, but the spirit of good neighborliness cannot be maintained if terrorism continues for decades. If you are not a bad neighbor then how can you get the benefit of good neighborliness? You cannot say give me water but I will continue terrorism with you. This is not possible.

‘We will do anything to protect ourselves’
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, ‘Your neighbors can also be bad. Unfortunately, ours are. If a country continues terrorism knowingly, without any remorse, we have the right to defend ourselves against terrorism, we will exercise that right. How we use that right is up to us. No one can tell us what we should or should not do. We will do whatever it takes to protect ourselves.
Why was the Strait of India affected?
On 22 April 2025, a terrorist attack took place in Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 tourists were killed by terrorists in the attack. India launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of 6 to 7 May, in which more than 9 terrorist hideouts of Pakistan were destroyed. A war-like situation arose between the two countries. On 10 May, India and Pakistan agreed to implement the ceasefire agreement. India took an important decision regarding the Indus Water Treaty and stopped the water. This agreement is still under consideration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that blood and water cannot flow together.
