New Delhi: We want to make soccer more popular in India but we are slightly fighting for talent, director media rights, DFB, Kay Dammholz said at the News9 Global Summit in Stuttgart, Germany on Friday. The three-day global summit, which began on Thursday with an electrifying atmosphere at the MHP Arena, continued in the same exhilarating manner on the second day.
Sports, especially football, happened to be an integral part of the vital topics being discussed at the event, highlighting the Indo-German collaboration alongside other disciplines like economy, business, technology and few others. During the session ‘India as a Footballing Nation: A German Template’, the game of soccer was discussed elaborately along with the prospects of India becoming a football nation.
Football creates a powerful bridge: Dammholz
Emphasising on the importance on inculcating the craze for football in the youth globally, Dammholz said that the beautiful game of soccer unites the whole world by creating a very powerful bridge. Along with this, he also mentioned that India is on the path of becoming a football nation and they as part of the German Football Association, are keen on making soccer more popular in India but the real fight is for talent.

Additionally, Dammholz, lauding India as a nation, said that though Germany has the ability to teach India about football but India can in turn teach them so many things. The DFB is focussed to contribute in India’s vision of becoming a football nation and for that, they have planned to bring many DFB leagues to India and that too free of charge and they will continue to enhance and work for the Indo-German collaboration.
Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart’s Stephan Hildebrandt and co-founder of Sudeva Delhi FC Anuj Gupta, who were among the other dignitaries present, signed a contract which will given an opportunity to Sudeva Delhi FC players to come and polish their skills at VfB Stuttgart club.
