New Delhi/Lucknow. With the beginning of March, the weather of the country has suddenly taken a dangerous turn. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very serious warning saying that the severe cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ originating from the Bay of Bengal and the Western Disturbance active in North India are going to completely shake the weather of the country. Within the next 24 to 72 hours, about 21 states of the country may see thunderstorms, heavy rains and hailstorms. Snowfall on the mountains and havoc of ‘Montha’ in the plains. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, due to this ‘double attack’, there is a strong possibility of torrential rains along with thunderstorms in Eastern and Central India. At the same time, due to the effect of western disturbance, heavy snowfall in the hilly states of North India and cold, strong winds in the plains will increase the chill. There is also a warning of hailstorm at many places, due to which there will be a sudden drop in temperature. Sea waves can take a violent form in the coastal areas, keeping in mind that fishermen have been completely banned from going into the sea. Farmers’ heartbeats increased, wheat-mustard crops in danger. This unseasonal rain and hailstorm is no less than a big crisis for the ripe Rabi crops standing in the fields. At present the wheat and mustard crops are in the final stages of harvesting. Agricultural experts have issued an advisory to the farmers and appealed to them to immediately take the harvested crops to safe places and make concrete arrangements to prevent waterlogging in the fields. A little carelessness can spoil months of hard work of farmers. Take these precautions before leaving home. This dangerous combination of Cyclone ‘Montha’ and Western Disturbance will remain in full swing for the next three days. The local administration has appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel. Do not stand under weak buildings, hoardings and large trees during thunderstorms. The risk of landslides has increased significantly in the hilly areas, hence the residents there have been instructed to be extra cautious. Park your vehicles only in safe and covered places. Amar Ujala appeals to you to rely only on the official bulletin of IMD and information from the local administration in view of the ever-changing weather patterns. Do not blindly believe any rumor related to weather spreading on social media and stay safe.
