IMD Heavy Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for several states across the country due to anticipated heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department forecasts that a spell of stormy rains, lightning strikes, and hailstorms will continue across a vast region—stretching from North to South India—over the next 6 to 7 days. The rains appear to be bringing much-needed relief to people from the scorching heat.

According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued for May 6, covering 11 states—including Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar—anticipating torrential rains accompanied by strong winds. During this period, wind speeds are expected to reach between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department suggests that a similar fresh spell of weather activity could commence once again on May 10 and 11, 2026.

Which states will experience rain?
– On May 6, 2026, most parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds.
– Heavy rainfall is also likely in certain large areas within these regions.

– Over the next 6 to 7 days, alerts have been issued for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, anticipating isolated incidents of thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall.

– The Meteorological Department forecasts that during the next 6 to 7 days, scattered locations across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to experience thunderstorms and strong winds (gusting between 40 and 60 km/h); heavy rainfall may also occur in some specific areas.

Delhi Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi is likely to experience thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms on May 6. During this period, wind speeds could reach between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, on May 6, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius.

In view of anticipated rain and thunderstorms, an alert has been issued for several districts across Uttar Pradesh. These include Saharanpur, Noida, Meerut, Mathura, Agra, Azamgarh, Kushinagar, Amethi, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi.

Bihar Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast
Warnings have also been issued for several districts in Bihar due to expected rainfall. Rain and thunderstorms are likely in numerous districts, including Patna, Siwan, Buxar, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Rohtas, Kaimur, Gaya, West Champaran, East Champaran, and Darbhanga.

Uttarakhand Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast
An alert for heavy rain and storms has been issued for Uttarakhand for tomorrow, Wednesday. Warnings regarding heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are in effect for Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. During this period, winds may blow at speeds ranging from 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.

Punjab Tomorrow’s Weather Forecast
An alert for storms and heavy rain has been issued for Punjab on May 6. A ‘Yellow Alert’ for storms and rain has been issued for Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, and Gurdaspur.
