Weather becomes a hindrance, yet PM Modi is associated with Kokrajhar: Announcement of projects worth Rs 4500 crore, appeal for support of NDA
Kokrajhar/Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the people of Kokrajhar, Assam through virtual medium. Due to bad weather, he could not reach the venue and interacted with the people from Guwahati only. The Prime Minister first expressed regret over not being able to reach Kokrajhar and said that he had left from Delhi directly to meet the public, but due to the weather he had to land in Guwahati.
Called public love a ‘debt’ –
Prime Minister Modi said that as far as he could see, a huge crowd of people was visible and a large number of mothers and sisters had also come to give blessings. He said that this love of the public is like a debt for him and he will keep trying to repay this debt through the development and service of the area.
Appreciation of Bodo culture and language-
In his address, PM Modi also praised the language and culture of the Bodo community. He said that some time ago he had the opportunity to see the Bodo culture closely in Guwahati and was proud to see that the community has preserved its traditions and language.
Inauguration of projects worth more than 4500 crores-
The Prime Minister said that the double engine government of BJP-NDA is continuously working for the preservation of the heritage and rapid development of Assam. The foundation stone of development projects worth more than Rs 4,500 crore has been laid and inaugurated in this programme. Of this, about Rs 1,100 crore will be spent on the development of roads in the Bodoland region. He said that the third phase of ‘Assam Mala’ campaign will further strengthen the road connectivity of the state.
Picture changed in Northeast-
The Prime Minister said Kokrajhar and surrounding areas have witnessed a period of violence and instability in the past decades, when the sounds of bombs and guns echoed in the hills. But now the situation is changing and today Bodoland is moving forward on the path of peace and development.
Targeted at Congress-
In his address, PM Modi also targeted the Indian National Congress. He said that for decades the Bodoland region has witnessed the betrayal of Congress and many generations here were kept entangled in false dreams. Modi said that the BJP-NDA government has made honest efforts and worked for lasting peace and development.
Mention of Bodo Peace Accord-
The Prime Minister said that the promises made under the Bodo Peace Accord 2020 are gradually being fulfilled. Bodo language has been given the status of co-official language and a special package of Rs 1,500 crore has also been given for the development of the region. He said that today a medical college is also running in Kokrajhar and many youths have returned to the mainstream and are living a peaceful life with their families.
