Weather Update: There will be severe cold in Delhi from this day, people in Punjab-Haryana are in bad condition due to cold, mercury below zero in Kashmir.

The wait for cold in Delhi is getting longer, but now the Meteorological Department has made it clear that severe winter is not far away. Despite half the month of December having passed in the capital, the temperature remains above normal, due to which people have not yet been able to feel the melting chill.

On the other hand, winter has already made the condition of people miserable in Punjab and Haryana. The nights are so cold that people have become dependent on bonfires and heaters. On the other hand, winter is at its peak in Kashmir and the mercury is being recorded several degrees below zero, due to which even the water of the lakes has started freezing. From the mountains of North India to the plains, the weather is changing rapidly, and in the next few days its effect is going to be felt in entire North India including Delhi.

There will be severe cold in Delhi after December 15

People in Delhi are waiting for winter. Where in the beginning of the month of December, people were in bad condition due to the cold of Delhi. At the same time, this time the temperature is absolutely normal, but according to the Meteorological Department, after December 15, the weather in Delhi will suddenly take a turn and the minimum temperature will start falling rapidly. The winter which has been mild till now will show its true form and the chill will increase. According to the Meteorological Department, there are full chances of cold wave and severe cold in the capital.

A warning of dense fog has been issued in the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh, Kushinagar, Bahraich and Gorakhpur. Along with this, the cold wave may intensify in many areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha and Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has indicated that the effect of cold wave in these areas will increase further in the coming days.

Freezing cold in Punjab-Haryana

While Delhi is still waiting for the onset of severe cold, winter has reached its full extent in Punjab and Haryana. In both the states the night temperature has fallen to around 3.6 degrees. The minimum temperature in Amritsar was recorded at 6.1 degrees, while in areas like Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Faridkot the thermometer slipped below 5 degrees. Even in Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul of Haryana, the nights have become so harsh that people have started shivering from the cold.

At present, cold is visible in its extreme form in Kashmir and the mercury is continuously falling. The minimum temperature in Srinagar has fallen to -3.7 degrees. The situation is similar in areas like Qazigund, Kupwara, Kokernag and Pahalgam, where the temperature remains several degrees below zero. The chill has further increased in Gulmarg and Pulwama, as the mercury here has been recorded around -5 degrees. The weather is expected to remain dry in the valley till December 12, while there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the hilly areas from December 13.
