Weather Update: Cold havoc increases in North India, IMD alert regarding dense fog and cold wave

Weather Update: Before the New Year, there is going to be severe cold in North India. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding dense fog, cold wave and cold day. There is a possibility of dense fog in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh till January 1. According to the Meteorological Department, cold day conditions may occur in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar on December 29.

Very dense fog in Delhi, affecting visibility

A warning of very dense fog has been issued in the capital Delhi on Monday (29 December). Visibility is expected to be very low in many areas in the next few hours, due to which road and air traffic may be affected. More effect of fog can be seen in the areas of Central Delhi, New Delhi, East, North, North East, North West, South, South East and South West Delhi.

Delhi Airport issued travel advisory

In view of the dense fog, Delhi Airport Administration has issued a travel advisory for passengers. The airport has said that there may be problems in operating flights due to fog. Passengers have been advised to contact the concerned airline for latest information regarding their flight. The airport administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience.

Dense fog alert in 37 districts in Uttar Pradesh

There has been a slight reduction in the intensity of fog in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, but despite this, there is a possibility of extremely dense fog in 37 districts of the state. In many districts including Ayodhya and Barabanki, fog can increase people’s problems in the morning and night. More melting was felt due to wind on Sunday and the weather is expected to remain the same on Monday also.

Dense fog warning in these districts

According to meteorologist Dr. Atul Kumar Singh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, There is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Sambhal.

On Sunday, visibility was zero in Agra and Saharanpur, while visibility was reduced to 15 meters in Meerut, 20 meters in Hamirpur and 30 meters in Aligarh and Muzaffarnagar. In such a situation, drivers have been advised to exercise special caution.

Fear of cold day in these districts

According to IMD, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Cold day conditions may occur in Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit and Badaun on Monday.

Cold will increase in Bihar also

In Bihar adjacent to Uttar Pradesh, severe cold and dense fog is likely to continue for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold day warning for many districts of the state. According to IMD, there will be dense fog during night and morning hours till January 1. Although the weather will remain dry, there are less chances of getting relief from cold even during the day.
