Weather changed in March, IMD alert: rain, hail and strong winds
Weather Update: In the beginning of the month of March, the heat had started showing its strength. People started getting troubled by the heat, but around March 15 the weather suddenly took a turn. Now a slight coolness is being felt in the morning, and the day temperature is also much lower than normal. It seems as if winter has made a comeback again. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its latest update that the weather will continue to change in most parts of the country for the next few days. Especially in the western Himalayan areas and the plains of north-west India, there is a possibility of rain with thunder, strong winds and hail at some places till March 20.
The speed of winds can reach 40 to 80 kilometers per hour, which will be quite strong. All this is happening due to the active Western Disturbance. For this reason, the day temperature will remain below normal in most parts of the country for the next week. The best thing is that there is no threat of severe heat wave anywhere in the next seven days. This will provide a lot of relief to people from the heat.
Chance of rain and hail in north-west India
Due to the effect of western disturbance, there may be heavy rain and snowfall in high altitude areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 19 and 20. There is an alert of severe thunderstorm, lightning and rain with thunder in many parts of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. There is a good possibility of hailstorm in these areas on March 19-20.
Stormy weather in eastern and central India
Thunderstorms and stormy activities may continue in eastern and central India till March 22. There is a danger of hail in some parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. Light to moderate rain and strong winds may also occur in many states of South India. Especially in Jharkhand and West Bengal, strong winds with a speed of 60-80 km/hr are expected on March 20-21.
Weather in Delhi today and coming days
Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday evening has brought a significant drop in the temperature. Now the weather department says that the capital will remain cloudy for the next three days. On March 19, there may be light rain with thunder in the afternoon and evening. During this period the wind speed can reach 50 km/hour. Overall, there is a relief situation from the heat in Delhi.
Weather condition in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand
In Uttar Pradesh too, the weather has become pleasant due to falling temperature. Light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds of 40-50 km/hr is expected in Western UP on March 19 and 20, while in Eastern UP on March 20 and 21. IMD has predicted a storm of up to 70 km/hr in Uttar Pradesh on March 20. Hail may also fall in eastern UP. The weather is going to be bad in Uttarakhand. On March 19 and 20, there may be thunderstorms, heavy rain with strong winds and snowfall at higher altitudes. An alert of hail and strong storm has also been issued at some places. Caution will have to be taken in hilly areas.
Bihar and Jharkhand
Due to active weather system in Bihar, there may be light rain with thunder and strong winds in the next few days. The temperature will be around normal. There are chances of sporadic rain from 20th to 22nd March. There is a danger of hailstorm and storm in Jharkhand. On March 20, strong winds may blow at a speed of 60 to 80 km/hour in the state. The weather department has advised to remain alert.
