‘We’ll review the footage’: Shaheen Shah Afridi reacts to match-turning penalty in PSL clash

The Lahore Qalandars captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, also opted not to lose his temper but instead showed his anger through a hefty five-run penalty when his team was defeated by the Karachi Kings in a PSL 2026 match on Sunday. The encounter that was of high voltage and reached to the last over was marred by the allegations of ball tampering that changed the turn of the match drastically.

It happened with the last over to play, and Karachi required 14 more to get the victory. The adjusted target, however, was set at a mere nine runs after the penalty that was given by the umpires. Karachi capitalize as Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sikandar Raza responds cautiously

Abbas Afridi became a hero of Karachi, who broke a boundary and hit a six to end the game with style. His late blossom guaranteed that the team continued their flawless performance in the tournament, which further heightened the attention to the scandalous decision.

Shaheen Shah Afridi did not impose severe accusations during the after-match presentation, although the situation was heated up. Rather, he was careful in his voice when he added that the team would first examine the footage and then draw a conclusion. He admitted that the influence of the penalty had affected him, and he had to admit that nothing his side could do about it once the runs were given.

The controversy was also taken care of by Lahore all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who strongly denied the allegations of ball tampering. He disclosed that the umpires had told the players not to wipe the ball with their shirts and said that there was not much clarity in the process of making the decision. Raza pointed out that he was not summoned to make any inquiry and demanded that no intention on his part was made to change the state of the ball, and that it was a serious appeal that deserved to be clearly evidenced.
