West Asia crisis: India brought back more than 52 thousand citizens safely
The Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi is keeping an eye on the increasing tension in West Asia and the Gulf region. Especially on the safety of those Indian passengers who are stranded during transit or short journeys. The government has made extensive arrangements for all the affected.
All Indians present in the area are appealed to follow the instructions of the local administration and follow the advice of their nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate. Each mission has issued detailed guidelines and launched 24×7 helplines to provide support in the current circumstances.
The ministry has also set up a special control room to answer the questions of the affected people and their families, which is continuously monitoring.
The airspace has partially opened in recent days, allowing Indian and foreign airlines to operate flights, including special chartered flights. From 1 to 7 March 2026, more than 52,000 Indians have returned safely, of which 32,107 took the help of Indian Airlines. More flights are planned.
Where there are no commercial flights, contact embassies for information about the nearest options.
The security of Indians abroad is the first priority of the government. It is providing all necessary help in collaboration with the regional governments.
