West Bengal ED Raid Case: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s problems seem to be increasing. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a writ petition against them in the Supreme Court. In this petition, Mamata Banerjee alleged that three ED officers were threatened and intimidated. Related to the ED raid in Kolkata on January 8. E relates to the search operation conducted at E, during which ED officials were misbehaved.
Mamata Banerjee tried to stop the ED officials wrongly during the search ED operation in Kolkata. ED alleged that their work was obstructed. The petition has been filed against West Bengal government and Mamata Banerjee. In the petition, it is alleged that Mamata Banerjee, DGP Rajeev Kumar and CP Manoj Verma conspired to obstruct and influence the functioning of the ED during its proceedings.

₹2,742 crore coal scam
Mamata Banerjee forcibly intervened in the January 8 probe into the Rs 2,742 crore coal scam. The ED petition also alleged that Mamata Banerjee and other state officials obstructed the proceedings of the CBI and ED and opposed the proceedings. Apart from this, Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters tried to obstruct the proceedings of the High Court. Through a WhatsApp group, Trinamool Congress supporters created a ruckus. It is also alleged that Chief Minister Banerjee along with around 100 policemen barged into Prateek Jain’s residence and forcibly took possession of the laptop, mobile phone and documents seized by the ED.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made a major plea to the Supreme Court in the alleged coal scam in West Bengal. The ED has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR against Chief Minister Banerjee, state Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar and Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma. The case is currently being investigated by both ED and CBI, and the direction of further action will be determined after the decision of the Supreme Court. However, due to this development, it is believed that a crisis of new political and legal challenge has arisen in front of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government.
