The possibility of a change of power in this Indian state has created a deep fear in the political circles of Dhaka.

Bangladeshi MP Akhtar Hussain, during a statement in his Parliament, has expressed apprehension that if BJP government is formed in West Bengal, then Bangladeshis living there may be sent back. Due to which a &8216;flood&8217;of migrants&8217; Will overflow.

Issue of illegal infiltration for decades

Even though there is talk at the political level about expelling the infiltrators, the ground reality is quite complex. According to sources, many infiltrators have obtained proof of Indian citizenship through forged documents, making their identification a very difficult task. Now when the chances of BJP’s victory in West Bengal are strong, the question is arising whether the Central and State governments together will initiate any major action against these infiltrators and whether this will create a new controversy in India-Bangladesh diplomatic relations.
