West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas resigns, know the reason
West Bengal: The controversy over Messi’s welcome ceremony in West Bengal has increased the political heat. The controversy in the program increased so much that Sports Minister Arup Biswas resigned. Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for an impartial investigation into the matter and resigned from the post. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said in the matter that his resignation from Vishwas has been accepted.
DC suspended
In the Messi case, the Chief Secretary has issued a show cause notice to Bengal Police Chief i.e. Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar and Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Mukesh Kumar. Bidhannagar Police Deputy Commissioner (DC) has been suspended.

Notice to these officers
Show-cause notice has been issued to DGP Rajeev Kumar and CP, Bidhannagar Mukesh Kumar. A reply has been sought from him within 24 hours. Departmental action has been initiated against DCP Anish Kumar Sarkar for allegedly being negligent in his duties and responsibilities on the day of the event. He has been suspended until the investigation is completed. A reply has also been sought from the Chief Secretary of the Sports Department in the matter.
team formed for investigation
SIT has been formed to investigate the matter. The team includes IPS Piyush Pandey, IPS Supratim Sarkar, IPS Muralidhar and IPS Javed Shamim. It is clear from the government’s action that the state government is taking this incident very seriously. To avoid such mistakes in future, the administration is fixing the accountability of the officers.
