West Bengal: Suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir will announce new party, will contest elections on more than 100 seats
Kolkata . Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir from Bharatpur assembly seat in minority-dominated Murshidabad district of West Bengal will announce his new political party on Monday. The announcement will be made from Mirzapur, which is very close to Beldanga, where Humayun Kabir’s proposed Babri Masjid is to be built. On Monday, Humayun Kabir will announce the names of the office bearers of the new party as well as the names of some district presidents. Kabir has said that he is planning to contest on more than 100 seats in the assembly elections to be held in the state next year.
He has also claimed that he is confident that the candidates of his new political party will win a significant number of seats in the assembly elections and thus will play an important role in the formation of the new state cabinet after the elections. He had called upon all anti-Trinamool Congress and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party political forces to unite with him and play an important role in removing the present Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, but without giving any chance to the BJP to grab power.
Humayun Kabir said, “My work is to unite the minority voters. Our target is to win at least 90 seats so that my party can play a role in forming the new government after the assembly elections next year. Otherwise, my dream of building Babri Masjid in Beldanga in Murshidabad district may remain unfulfilled.” He has also said that his party will field candidates against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Bhawanipur Assembly constituency in South Kolkata and against Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram Assembly constituency in East Midnapore district.
Although Kabir himself has not made any announcement about the name of his new political party, a person close to him said that one of two names will be chosen, which are Indian Conservative Party and Janata Unnayan Party. Speaking to news agency IANS, Humayun Kabir said, “For now, I will contest against both BJP and TMC. All the other parties of Bengal, including Congress, Communist Party and ISF, if they want to form an alliance with me and fight against BJP and TMC,” Humayun Kabir said while speaking to news agency IANS.
However, the suspended Trinamool Congress MLA had clearly stated his first two choices for the logo of his new political party. According to him, his first choice as a logo would be “Table”, while the second choice would be “Twin Roses”. “If I don’t get either of them, I will think about the third option,” he said. There are two options for the party logo. According to Humayun, his first choice as a logo is a table and his second choice is ‘two roses’. “If I don’t get either of these, I will think about the third option,” he said.
After receiving multiple reprimands from the Trinamool Congress leadership, he was officially suspended from the Trinamool Congress party earlier this month, days before the foundation stone laying ceremony of the proposed Babri Masjid in Beldanga on December 6. The proposed mosque will be built on the lines of the disputed structure in Ayodhya, which was demolished on December 5, 1992.
