In place of ‘Chaudhary’ of the West, now ‘Chaudhary’ of the East has come, what is the game?

Now the wait of BJP workers in UP is over. That too with a big surprise. The party high command has replaced Chaudhary of the West i.e. Bhupendra Chaudhary with Chaudhary of the East i.e. Pankaj Chaudhary. Bhupendra Chaudhary is considered close to former UP BJP Organization Minister Sunil Bansal. His coronation in 2022 was also decided by the high command as per its own. However, he remained almost ineffective in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now once again there is a big and tough election. In view of 2027, the high command has once again made a big bet on political chess. Pankaj Chaudhary has been brought in place of Bhupendra Chaudhary. They come from Khanty East. Like Bhupendra Chaudhary was from Khanti West.

After winning the UP assembly elections for the second time in 2022, BJP Bhupendra Chaudhary got the post of president. But, the lack of visits and neglect in connectivity with the workers took away all the political flavor. In the 2024 elections, the workers unannounced withdrew from their active role, after which questions started being raised on everything from the organization to the top power. However, in the West, where Bhupendra Chaudhary comes from, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with him as its president, the party could win only 9 out of 17 seats. Whereas, the party lost the 5 seats it had won in 2019.

Whereas, SP, Congress and other opposition parties won 8 out of 17 seats in Western UP. The union, organization and government brainstormed for several months regarding the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in UP. The biggest thing that came out was that the workers were unhappy, hence their role remained limited. The workers said that this happened because their role in the organization was limited. As state president, Bhupendra Chaudhary was neither seen connecting with the workers nor did the workers show the enthusiasm to join him. But, now Pankaj Chaudhary has to do the same difficult task in a very short time.

Pankaj Chaudhary’s ‘examination’ begins, will have to cover 75 districts in 15 months

UP BJP’s new president Pankaj Choudhary has very little time and a lot of work. Previous president Bhupendra Chaudhary used to find it very difficult to reach from west to east, but Pankaj Chaudhary does not even have this option. In just 15 months, they will have to reach and capture 75 districts in all four directions of UP including East to West and North to South. With the appointment of Pankaj Choudhary to the post of president, the wait for the workers ended and the testing time for the leader of the organization in the state has begun.

For the first time in his successful political journey of 36 years, Pankaj Chaudhary has got a big responsibility in the organization. The biggest test before him is himself. After becoming a councilor in 1989, he became an MP for the first time in 1991 at the age of 27. Leaving aside 1999 and 2009, reaching Parliament from Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat a total of seven times shows his political hold. However, now it is not limited to just winning one’s seat. Because, there is a world of difference between capturing the Kurmi vote bank in Maharajganj and reaching out to the workers to boost their morale in entire UP. Will Pankaj Chaudhary be able to perform this political miracle? The biggest and toughest challenge will be to once again show the strength of the organization to the workers who have registered their silent anger in 2024 and prepare them for electoral enthusiasm by instilling enthusiasm among them.

The post of President before 2027 is a crown studded with nails, not thorns!

The coronation of Pankaj Choudhary, Prime Minister Modi’s minister and a leader close to Home Minister Amit Shah, has made many things clear. Every move, every move, every move, every maze for the 2027 elections in UP will be decided from Delhi. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary joining the race for the post of President at the last moment and then becoming the President shows that Delhi is firm at the moment. After the political churning of the Sangh, organization and government regarding the post of President in UP, all the pictures and messages have come to the fore.

Pankaj Chaudhary will not only be the face of the organization in UP, but he will also get strength from Delhi through the backdoor. If this thing goes in his support, then the same thing can also go against him. Because workers at the state, area, district, block and division level can quickly and easily connect with the leaders active in the state. However, it is possible that Pankaj Chaudhary may consider this aspect of the big organizational responsibility he has received for the first time. Because, it will be impossible for anyone to make inroads in a state with a huge and multicultural society like UP in 15 months. By joining hands with the workers, this difficult mission can be made successful.

How vocal will Pankaj Chaudhary be able to be against “PDA”?

Akhilesh Yadav had given the slogan of PDA in 2024. Congress had run the narrative of changing the Constitution against BJP. Both the tactics worked. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, SP won 37 seats and went 5 seats ahead of BJP. BJP had to be satisfied with only 33 seats. The party lost 29 seats compared to 2019. At the same time, Congress also won 6 seats as against one seat in 2019. Congress and SP had made it difficult for BJP to win on many backward and narrative seats. In 2024, Pankaj Choudhary also got into trouble due to Congress’s caste arithmetic bet on Maharajganj seat. However, he won by more than 35 thousand votes and was elected MP for the seventh time.

Now Pankaj Chaudhary will have to show some charisma of caste mathematics in front of SP’s PDA. His biggest responsibility will be to keep the Kurmi vote bank united in UP. There are about 12% Kurmi in UP. The BJP high command has also placed its bet on Pankaj Choudhary, a grassroots leader of the Kurmi community, so that he does not let the vote bank of his community get dispersed. Also, do not let the Kurmi satraps deviate from BJP. But, the difficulty they will face is that Akhilesh Yadav has sent many Kurmi satraps in his party to the Assembly by giving them tickets in 2022 and has made many Kurmi MPs in 2024. Now, if Pankaj Chaudhary puts all his strength in targeting the Kurmi vote bank only, then under what strategy will the work be done on the other communities? Therefore, everyone’s eyes are on the team that Pankaj Chaudhary will build for 2027.

Bet on Kurmi for the fourth time, will BJP be able to avenge the defeat of ’24’ in ’27’?

The new president of BJP in UP is facing the elections of 2027 and the time is barely 15 months. In such a situation, the first challenge before Pankaj Chaudhary will be to eliminate the scope for factionalism. In UP BJP too, like all other parties, the district level workers enjoy the protection of their respective regional satraps. If Pankaj Choudhary ignores or is unable to accommodate those faces whose connections are already connected in Lucknow, then factionalism may get fueled.

By making Pankaj Choudhary the president of UP BJP, the party high command has given a clear message that it has maximum confidence in the Kurmi vote bank. Talking about UP, till now the party has handed over the command of the organization to three Kurmi leaders. Om Prakash Singh in the year 2000, Vinay Katiyar in 2002, Swatantra Dev Singh in 2019 and now in 2025, the fourth Kurmi president of UP is Pankaj Chaudhary. During the time of Om Prakash Singh who became president in 2000, BJP used to struggle for seats, then the guarantee of power was fifty-fifty. After that, even in 2002, the situation was only about forming and saving governments. In 2019, when Swatantra Dev Singh was made the President of UP, in 2022 the party had won 258 seats despite all the internal fights and factionalism. But, after that, the coming of PDA in 2024 and BJP going on the back foot on the seats front was a big shock.

Perhaps that is why after a long brainstorming, the party has handed over the command of UP to Pankaj Choudhary, who has completed 36 years of political journey from councilor to MP. But, this election may prove to be the most difficult for both BJP and Pankaj Chaudhary. Because, from the political churning of the caste equation, BJP has brought out the Kurmi face, the entire election battle of 2027 rests on the same caste arithmetic. How strong Pankaj Chaudhary will prove to be in the caste war will decide the results of the 2027 elections. At present it is a period of welcome, greetings, flowers, sweets, fireworks and congratulations. The Sangh, the organization and the BJP high command hope that the celebration of the coronation of Chaudhary of the East can be repeated with a big victory in 2027.
