What are FlushShe Sanitary Pads? Aastha Daluza’s startup will provide relief from periods to 355 million girls and women

In our country, a large number of girls and women go through periods every month. According to estimates, more than 35 crore (355 million) girls and women are involved in this process. Generally, girls’ periods start at the age of 15-16 years and they continue till the age of about 50 years, which means a woman needs sanitary pads or similar things every month for many years in her life.

Currently, most of the sanitary pads in the market are made of plastic and chemicals. Many times fragrances are added to them or chemicals are used which are not good for the skin. The biggest problem is that these pads do not rot easily. To throw them away, women wrap them in plastic foil (polythene) and throw them in the garbage. The result is that these pads remain in the garbage heap for years, even hundreds of years. They cause great harm to the environment – not only are the mountains of garbage increasing, they also contaminate the soil, water and air.

Aastha Daluza Initiative

In view of this problem, a brave and intelligent woman has started a wonderful work. Her name is Aastha Daluja, she is a resident of Noida, but recently a big event took place in Delhi – this program named Campus to Market was organized at Ambedkar International Center under the Youth Festival Startup on behalf of the Department of Training and Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Rekha Gupta gave a reward of Rs 10 lakh

Aastha had brought her innovation in this event. The most important thing was that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta greatly appreciated this wonderful idea of Aastha. He gave Aastha a reward and honor of Rs 10 lakh. Apart from this, the Chief Minister met them personally and promised full support to bring their product to the market as soon as possible. They have also started planning to make it available on a large scale with the help of the government.

What is FlushShe?

Aastha Daluja has started her own startup named Biocare Ventures LLP. The name of their special sanitary pad is FlushShe. These pads are made in a completely natural way. These have been prepared from natural fibers obtained from different trees (like fibers obtained from bamboo, banana etc.). It does not contain any harmful chemicals or plastics. Its biggest feature is that after using it, it can be flushed in the toilet or drain. This pad completely dissolves in water and decomposes within 8 to 10 hours. This causes neither air pollution nor water pollution. It has been tested many times that when it dissolves in water, the water remains completely clean, no dirt or chemical spreads. Women will no longer need to wrap it in plastic polythene and throw it in the garbage. It will automatically mix with the environment and will not increase the burden of garbage.

Work was started in lockdown

Aastha told that she started this idea during the lockdown in 2020. Since then, there has been continuous hard work, research, testing and now in 2026, this product is completely ready. It is going to come in the market soon. The best thing is that its price will be kept much lower than other sanitary pads in the market. So that these pads can easily reach cities as well as villages. Every woman and girl, irrespective of their economic status, can buy and use it comfortably.

big step of faith

This effort of Aastha Daluja is not only good for the health and convenience of women, but is also a big step in saving the entire environment. With the support of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, it is expected that this product will soon be available everywhere and our country will be free from the mountains of garbage. There is a great need for such innovative and eco-conscious startups. Women like Aastha Daluza are showing us that even small changes can make a big difference.
