The 2000 and 500 rupee notes issued in recent years are considered a major step in this direction. These notes have been equipped with advanced security features that help the public distinguish between genuine and counterfeit notes. Security Features of the 2000 Rupee Note

The magenta-coloured 2000 rupee note is part of the new Mahatma Gandhi series, featuring Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait on the front. The design of the note is such that when held up to the light, the value is visible in a transparent register. When the note is tilted, the hidden value image becomes visible. Features such as micro lettering, color-changing security thread, and watermarks enhance security against counterfeit notes. Raised printing and a special design have been added for the convenience of the visually impaired. The note’s size is 66 mm x 166 mm, making it easier to distinguish from other notes.

Security Features in the 500 Rupee Note

The stone gray 500 Rupee note features an updated design and security features. The back features an image of the historic Red Fort. The security thread changes color from green to blue when the note is tilted. The denomination numerals in Devanagari, new number panel technology, and color-shifting ink make it more secure. Raised symbols and special line patterns have also been included for the visually impaired. The note’s size is 63 mm x 150 mm.
