What big deal did Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance make with Google and Meta?

Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries has taken a big step in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Reliance will now deliver AI across the country with the help of big companies like Google and Meta. In the company’s annual general meeting, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani announced the partnership with Google and Meta.

 

On the partnership with Reliance, Mark Zuckerberg said that we are going to use Meta’s Llama model in the real world. Hopefully Meta will now expand into the enterprise world. Together we will uncover new possibilities. The joint venture of Meta and Reliance will provide AI facilities to companies and industries not only in India but across the world.

 

Reliance’s focus is to set up an AI-centric cloud region in Jamnagar, Gujarat. There will be support from Google Cloud in this. Mukesh Ambani’s company will be responsible for the construction, design and operation of the cloud facility. Google Cloud will provide the most modern AI computing features. Google Cloud is Reliance’s largest public cloud partner. With the help of Reliance and Jio ecosystem, Google will work towards taking AI to more and more people in India.

Reliance’s big deal with Meta

Apart from Google, Reliance has announced a joint venture with Facebook’s main company Meta. According to the announcement, Reliance Industries and Meta will make a total initial investment of Rs 855 crore in the ratio of 70 percent and 30 percent. The joint venture will be powered by Meta’s advanced open-source Llama model.

Why Reliance’s partnership with Meta?

The joint venture between Meta and Reliance will allow companies to not only use Generative-I models in sales-marketing, information technology, customer service, finance and other specialized functions, but will also allow customization as per the needs of the companies. This joint venture will facilitate the deployment and control of fully secure full stack AI models. Apart from the cloud, the joint venture will provide the facility to deploy AI models in its own infrastructure and on-premises.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that our partnership with Jio and Reliance is an important part of our work. Over the last decade, our work has helped in providing affordable internet to millions of people. This gave strength to India’s digital revolution. Now we are working towards taking the next leap with AI.

Pichai further said that AI in India will change everything from industries to grocery stores. Google is helping to create a dedicated cloud region in Jamnagar. It will bring world-class AI and computing from Google Cloud, powered by Reliance’s clean energy and connected to Jio’s advanced network.
