Talking about his songs being used in films, he said, “There was a film released recently, which has grossed Rs 1.1000 crore so far.” When asked if he was paid for the use of the song, he replied, “Yes, they paid me $50,000. They even took my permission before using this song. I still get ‘honoury’ for ‘Aaj Jaana Dil Hai Deewana’, ‘Hawa Hawa’ and all my other songs. Earlier there was no proper copyright system; however, nowadays when anyone wants to use one of my songs, they take my permission first.”

Haasan further revealed that the song ‘Hawa Hawa’ was composed 40 years ago; It was recorded in 1986 and released in 1987. Since then, the song has been remade roughly ten times in various films.
