What is the Hexagon Alliance between India and Israel due to which Pakistan and China are upset?

Israel Hexagon Alliance: The rumor of a big game starting in West Asia has become louder. Israel The proposed ‘Hexagon Alliance’ has increased the heartbeats of China and Pakistan. If this security alliance takes shape, the entire picture of terrorism, power balance and strategic equations may change. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Has left for a tour of Israel and Israel has proposed to include India in the ‘Hexagon Alliance’.

Netanyahu has called it ‘Hexagon of Alliance’ i.e. an alliance of six countries. Netanyahu says that the Alliance will be a group of countries whose security concerns and strategic interests are similar. On one hand, Israel is troubled by terrorist organizations like Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. Similarly, India is troubled by the terrorism flourishing in Pakistan. In such a situation, this proposal of Israel is being considered very important for India. Along with India, the names of Greece and Cyprus have also been taken in it. Apart from this, some Arab, African and Asian countries have also been said to be included in it, although their names have not been revealed yet.

Why is Israel taking this decision?

This announcement was made by the Israeli Foreign Office on 22 February. This has come at a time when geopolitical tension has increased in the region. There is tension between Israel and Iran. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have formalized a strategic mutual defense agreement in September 2025. Some experts have compared this arrangement to ‘Islamic NATO’, Turkey has also indicated possible interest in this agreement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Israel tour today. This is his second visit to Israel. According to India’s Foreign Ministry, the regional situation and global issues are expected to be discussed between the two leaders. During a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu expressed his views on the outline of this new alliance. He said that it will bring together countries in the Middle East, Mediterranean region, Africa and Asia who have similar thinking regarding regional threats.

What is Hexagon Alliance?

  • Netanyahu described this proposed alliance as a response against two destabilizing forces. He referred to a ‘radical Shia axis’, primarily referring to Iran and its allies such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi rebels.
  • Apart from this, he also talked about an emerging ‘radical Sunni axis’, which he linked to extremist organizations operating in the region.
  • This proposal of Israel points towards a more formal and security-centric structure.
  • The purpose of this hexagon structure is said to be to increase defense coordination, intelligence sharing and strategic strength.
  • By publicly putting forward this idea and naming partners and opposition forces, Netanyahu has given it the form of an open strategic policy.
  • India has been placed in an important role in this proposal, which is being seen as an important player in the changing balance in the region.

Why did the parrots fly from Pakistan and China?

  • Pakistan and China are believed to be keeping a direct eye on this proposed agreement. India has long been expressing concern about cross-border terrorism and has on several occasions accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist organizations. India has been saying that Pakistan’s land is used for terrorist activities against India and the Pakistan government gives full support to such people.
  • Regarding organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, India has earlier been alleging that they get protection in Pakistan. India claims that terrorists associated with Pakistan-backed networks infiltrate into India and carry out attacks. The Pahalgam attack a few months ago and the Pulwama attack in 2019 are examples of this.
  • In such a scenario, if a security-centric structure like ‘Hexagon Alliance’ takes shape, then it can become a platform to increase coordination on issues related to terrorism and regional security. Pressure on any such Pakistani network can be increased through defense cooperation, intelligence sharing and strategic coordination.
  • At the same time, China has increased its presence in West Asia in recent years through economic, energy and infrastructure projects. The formation of an organized security structure may change the regional equations, due to which China may have to suffer losses.
  • If India plays an important role in this framework, then its strategic position between Asia-West Asia will be strengthened. This is important because there are often disputes between the two countries regarding the border. An example of this is the clash in Galwan in 2020. An alliance will give India a strong position somewhere.
