What is NCPI? In which 20 rebel MPs of TMC have joined

20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs finally revealed their cards on Sunday. MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastikar, who leads this rebel faction of Trinamool Congress, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday and demanded her separate sitting place in Parliament. Surprisingly, all the twenty MPs have not staked their claim on former CM Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC, rather all have joined the ‘Nationalist Citizens Party of India’ (NCPI). It can also be said that the rebels merged themselves into this party.

The eyes of the entire country were fixed on these rebels, what steps will all these MPs take by rebelling against Mamata Banerjee? But, on Sunday evening, after meeting the Lok Sabha Speaker, Kakoli Ghosh Dastikar came in front of the media and expressed his views. He said, ‘We are merging All India Trinamool Congress with Nationalist Citizens Party (NCP).’

What did Kakoli Ghosh say?

Kakoli Ghosh said that we 20 MPs elected from TMC met the Speaker and submitted a letter requesting to sit separately. These 20 MPs are more than two-thirds of our total number. We are merging with the Nationalist Citizens Party. Going forward, we will work for the country and work together with the NDA led by the Prime Minister.

After the merger of rebel MPs with NCPI, now questions are being raised in everyone’s mind that what is Nationalist Citizens Party of India, whose name no one had heard before today.

What is NCPI?

20 Lok Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress have decided to merge themselves with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India instead of staking claim on the parent party. This step is completely different from the split between Shiv Sena and MCP in Maharashtra. For now, he has given up claim on TMC party. Actually, this move could have led to a legal battle. Also, the claim on TMC cannot be made without the help of BJP. In such a situation, BJP would also face problem in defending this step in front of the public.
