What is the relationship between Tarachandi Dham of Bihar and Kamakhya?
There is a unique temple amidst the hills of Kaimur in Rohtas district of Sasaram, Bihar, whose glory is talked about in every corner of the country. We are talking about Maa Tarachandi Dham which has the distinction of being one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Sati. It is believed that when Lord Vishnu dismembered the mortal remains of Mata Sati with his Chakra, his right eye i.e. ‘Tara’ had fallen here, due to which this place got its sacred name.
This Dham is considered very special not only for the common devotees but also for those who practice Tantra. It is directly related to the famous Kamakhya temple of Assam. Experts say that among the four ‘Mudra Peethas’ in the whole of India, Kamakhya and Tarachandi rank at the top. While Mahamudra is worshiped in Kamakhya, the eye form of the Mother predominates here, making it a powerful spiritual centre.
