Nakka Indrayya, a resident of Lakshmipuram village in Telangana, died on January 11. 80 year old Indrayya has become a topic of discussion in the country and the world these days. The reason is to build one’s own grave before death. The special thing was that he had the tomb built right next to his wife’s grave. He had planted saplings around the grave where he went to water every day. Besides, he used to clean that place daily and then used to sit there peacefully for some time.
 
Nakka Indrayya’s elder brother Nakka Bhubhayya told PTI that Indrayya not only built his own grave but also built a church in the village. He also did many good works for the development of the village. A resident of the village said about Indrayya, ‘Whatever a person collects remains here, but what he gives to others goes with him. We will always remember Indrayya ji’s kind and charitable nature. He had come into limelight earlier also when Indrayya had got his tomb built. At that time PTI had asked him the reason for building the tomb. On this Indrayya had said, ‘I have built four-five houses, a school and a church and now I have also built my grave. I am very happy. Building a grave makes many people sad, but it makes me happy.

Why did you make your own grave?

Nakka Indrayya believed that death was bound to come. With this thinking, he had handed over all his property to his children before his death. He believed that man should not depend on others for anything. This was the reason why he got his tomb built while he was alive, so that no one would have to face any kind of trouble after his death.

Nakka Indrayya had spent about Rs 12 lakh in getting his tomb built. Flowering plants were planted around the grave. Indrayya believed that the grave is the real home of a person after death, hence he used to clean the grave around it daily.

How was Nakka Indrayya?

He always came forward to help the village people. His aim was that after his death there should not be any kind of burden on his children. For this reason he had his grave built next to his wife’s grave. According to his wish, his children buried him in the same grave after his death.
