The Indian helmet with which Sangkar played his stormy innings was gifted to him by Yashasvi Jaiswal during the Indian Premier League. Sangakkara plays the role of coach in Rajasthan Royals, while Yashasvi Jaiswal is seen as an opening batsman in the team. In IPL 2026, he also captained some matches in the absence of RR captain Riyan Parag.
Sangakkara could come to play wearing India’s helmet because it was not a competition between countries. This was a club match, in which no action is taken if someone comes wearing a helmet with the logo and flag of another country.
