What will be the political future of Sharad Pawar, Priyanka Chaturvedi and Sanjay Raut? Roads to Rajya Sabha closed again

It seems very difficult for Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) President Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leaders Priyanka Chaturvedi and Sanjay Raut to reach Rajya Sabha next time. The main reason for this is the results of the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections. The parties of Uddhav and Sharad Pawar have suffered a major setback in the results of Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, which came a day ago. The number of their MLAs has reduced considerably, due to which the chances of these leaders getting re-elected to the Rajya Sabha have reduced considerably. In this assembly elections, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) could not even reach the figure of 50.

Only one candidate will be able to go to Rajya Sabha

Maha Vikas Aghadi could win only 49 seats. Due to this failure of MVA, Sharad Pawar, Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi will not be able to get the next Rajya Sabha term on their own. Generally, a quota of 43 seats is fixed for going to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. In this context, the entire Maha Vikas Aghadi together can send only one person to the Rajya Sabha. That too when a consensus is reached on one name in the alliance.

When will the tenure of these maharathis end?

Sharad Pawar and Priyanka Chaturvedi were elected members of the Rajya Sabha on 3 April 2020 for a six-year term. His tenure will end on April 3, 2026. Whereas, Sanjay Raut was elected to Rajya Sabha on 1 July 2022 and his tenure will end on 22 July 2028.

Who won how many seats?

After the declaration of election results of 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, BJP is the largest party with 132 seats. Mahayuti’s ally Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) is at second place. Shiv Sena won 57 seats. NCP (Ajit Pawar) is at third place with 41 seats. Shiv Sena (UBT) won 20 seats, Congress 16 and NCP (Sharad Pawar) won only 10 seats. SP won two seats.
