Now a minister of Bangladesh government has answered this matter. Bangladeshi minister has said that if Sheikh Hasina returns, she will have to go to jail.
Shama Obaid Islam, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the Tariq Rahman-led government in Bangladesh, has issued a statement regarding the return of Sheikh Hasina. The minister said- “If she (Sheikh Hasina) surrenders, steps will be taken as per the existing law. She will have to go to jail. The law will take its course.” Shama has made it clear that if Sheikh Hasina surrenders, the government will proceed completely within the legal framework.
Let us tell you that in the month of August 2024, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had left the country amid the violent movement of students in Bangladesh. After the overthrow of the government, Hasina had safely escaped from Dhaka and come to India. Since then till now he is in India only. However, she herself has now told that she will soon go back to Bangladesh.
Let us tell you that only last week Sheikh Hasina has made a big announcement regarding going back to Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina has said that she along with other exiled Awami League leaders are planning to return to Bangladesh voluntarily around December. Sheikh Hasina had said- “When I return to Bangladesh, they can arrest me, they can even kill me. Still, I have to go.” Sheikh Hasina further said, “My party leaders and workers are being subjected to severe repression. If death comes, I want it to come to my own land, where my parents are buried and where their blood was shed.”
