What would the family do if molestation happened? AIMIM’s big statement on Tarun case
The case of lynching of 26-year-old Tarun in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar has intensified political and social debate. Responding to this incident, AIMIM has said that this matter is being presented only in a one-sided manner and there is a need to understand the entire incident.
What did the party’s Delhi state president Shoaib Jamai say?
Party’s Delhi state president Shoaib Jamai claimed that the incident was the result of a dispute that escalated after a woman was allegedly molested and the Muslim family reacted in self-defence. Shoaib Jamai released a video message and said that the incident that happened in Uttam Nagar is very sad, but it is being presented in a wrong manner. According to him, both the families had been living in the same area for many years and there had been disputes between them in the past also.
He said that this time the matter escalated when a Muslim woman accused him of molestation and came crying to her family. Jamai says that this aspect is being ignored. He alleged that Tarun had brought some youths with him from the gym and after this the fight between the two parties escalated. According to Jamai, people from both sides were injured during this period, including a minor. He said that people from the Muslim side also suffered serious injuries during the clash. Tarun died in this incident, which he called unfortunate.
The AIMIM leader said that if a woman was molested then it is natural for the family to protect themselves. He also said that it is not fair to blame only one party in this case, because according to him both the families have been affected by this incident. He also accused the media of presenting the matter in a one-sided manner.
Questions raised on Delhi government
Meanwhile, Jamai also raised questions on the Delhi government and alleged that discrimination is being done in the action. Criticizing the bulldozer action, he said that only the court has the right to demolish someone’s house, not the government. He said that if there is an allegation against someone then the blame should be decided only through the judicial process.
Jamai also said that after the incident there is an atmosphere of tension in the area and many Muslim families are feeling unsafe. He appealed that communal tension should not increase in Delhi and it is necessary to maintain law and order. AIMIM also said that a party delegation will meet both the families and take stock of the situation.
According to the police, the dispute started on the day of Holi when a water balloon thrown by a girl fell on a woman passing by. After this there was an altercation between the two families, which later turned into a violent clash. During this time, Tarun was allegedly attacked by several people, due to which he was seriously injured. He later died in the hospital.
