WhatsApp is working on ‘View Once’ text messages
This feature has been hinted at in the beta version of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS. Although this feature is currently in development and is not available for public testing, it may be brought in a future update.
The main purpose of bringing this is to give users more control while sharing confidential or sensitive information through chat.
How will this feature work?
Users will be able to activate this option by long-pressing the send button after typing the message. By doing this a new option named ‘Send as View Once’ will appear.
When the recipient opens and reads the message, it will automatically disappear and will never be seen again.
Key points about ‘View Once’ text messages
The message will only be read once before it disappears forever.
Recipients won’t be able to copy, forward, or share the message.
WhatsApp may also restrict screenshots and screen recording to reduce the possibility of saving content.
It is expected that this feature will work in both personal and group chats.
It is unlikely to be available for WhatsApp channels.
