Smooth animation for messages

The feature was first spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS available via TestFlight. Once enabled, incoming and sent messages will not appear on the screen immediately. Instead, message bubbles will slowly appear and zoom into place, making the chat experience smoother and more premium.

Interestingly, WhatsApp had earlier also provided a similar animation feature, but it was later removed. The company is now bringing it back with better visuals and better effects.

Users can turn it off

WhatsApp is giving complete control to users on this feature. Those who prefer a traditional chat interface can easily turn off the animations.

To manage settings:

Open WhatsApp Settings

Tap “Chats”

Select the new “Animations” option

Turn the feature on or off as per your preference

Available on Android and iPhone beta

The animated message bubbles feature was first seen in the Android beta version last week and has now arrived in the iPhone beta release as well. This suggests that Meta is developing this feature for both platforms simultaneously.
